With the increase of straying from the traditional wedding over the past decade, not only have we seen a change towards unique venues whether it be barns, the woods, or teepees on the beach, but also a change in wedding gowns. This is most prevalent in the boho world where hippy-esque brides with more carefree attitudes deny the frill, beads, and bling and opt for plainer white flowing dresses. Often, these dresses don't even need to be purchased in a bridal salon. It is fabulous that brides feel able to embrace their own style for their big day and go off the beaten path to follow what their heart desires. So then why are we all still vying towards diamond engagement rings? They say "diamonds are a girl's best friend", but who exactly are "they" and how vague of a statement is that to speak for everyone? Just as perhaps a traditional bride may want a gold band and diamond solitaire, a boho bride may be more interested in other natural stones like opal. Opal, in fact, is very romantic having even been used in Shakespeare's writing. So, let's give these brides what they want too! I have pulled together an assortment of what are alternative engagement rings in the sense that they they are most likely cushioning something rather than diamonds. Ever hear of Morganite? You'll be tickled pink when you see it!
