TOP PICKS FROM BRIDAL FASHION WEEK - SPRING 2018

Jenny Packham

Oh New York Bridal Fashion Week, how I love thee!!! Seeing the Spring 2018 lines unveiled were a pleasure as usual. For me, it's amazing to see the turns each designer takes with their collections and who pushes the envelope. Each season, my favorite designs seem to come from my usual loves whose creations have been gracing the catwalk for years, but there are also always a few different newer designers on the scene that makes my heart go pitter patter with some of their beauties. I guess Bridal Fashion Week is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're going to get, but I mean, you can never go wrong with chocolate!

Flouncing the catwalk this season were tons of trends like The Cold Shoulder and Cut-Out bodices. Back in style in a big way is the Off the Shoulder. Thanks to Coachella and the Festival Scene, the Boho style will be casually staying around for a while. For a bit, seeming too matronly, sleeves and lace have definitely now found their place and don't seem to be going anywhere any time soon. You can also give pants a chance. And, you'll find hints of black whether in the dress or accessories. Want to talk accessories? That's something I will come back to in a later post to touch more on as they are louder than ever for the walk down the aisle!

As I like to present to you each time Bridal Fashion Week comes around, here are my top picks listed in categories where I think they fit best. While there were so many more incredible gowns that I could've added to these lists (and I do mean incredible) I tend to shy away from including the gowns that are not-so-appropriate (for lack of better words) and include those that are more realistically wearable in hopes that I can inspire some bride's finds. For instance, I'm just still not sure who is going to wear a completely see-through wedding gown on their big day. But wow, Berta Bridal especially - the sparkle from some of their sensual pieces was amazing! Berta definitely still made it in this list along with Oleg Cassini and Reem Acra who wowed me as usual. Marchesa, Ines Di Santo, Jim Hjelm, Monique Lhuillier, Watters, and Peter Langner of course never ever disappoint. Theia always has something that turns my eyes in to hearts like on that emoji - you know the one. My most anticipated for the past few seasons has probably been Hayley Paige, and she surely surpassed my expectations per usual. You can always count on Sottero & Midgley to come through with true bridal gowns which will be worn by tons and tons of brides. Many others made it to the list too as they had stunning showstoppers. And, how exciting...we finally get to see the collection of Randy Fenoli of 'Say Yes To The Dress'. He must be very proud. He has some wonderful creations! He definitely fit perfectly in to the box of chocolates with his tasty collection!
